Myth #1: Mammograms don’t help

Myth #2 : Mammograms can cause cancer

Truth: Mammograms are the X-Ray of the breast. Small doses of radiation are used during the test. With advances in technology, now the amount of radiation is reduced. Hence the risk of harm is extremely low.

Myth #3: Mammograms are inaccurate

Truth: Sometimes mammograms can show false-negative results but repeated and regular screenings reduce this percentage. It is also possible to get a false-positive result of a mammogram. And hence additional testing is required to confirm cancer.

Myth #4: I don’t have any symptoms of breast cancer or family history, so I don’t need a mammogram test.

Fact: Breast cancer can happen to anyone regardless of family history. Sometimes symptoms are not noticed in the early stage. Hence each woman over 40 should go for an annual mammogram test.
